Dear Sir or Madam, We, the Kachin National Organization - UK, are honoured to invite you to the 51st anniversary of “Kachin Revolution Day” ceremony. It is well known fact that “the Union of Burma” came into existence after the signing of “panglong’s agreement” between the ethnic’s minority brethren and the Burman majority led by General Aung San. We, the Kachin voluntarily took part as signatory in the panglong conference with a view that democracy, justice, equality and self-autonomy would be guaranteed through the panglong treaty so that the newly formed “Union of Burma” prospers in peace and harmony. Following the independence, however, during U Nu-led parliamentary era based on the unitary centrally planned government: no political space is given to the ethnic minorities to exercise their political right contrary to essence of Panglong.
