On 8 August 2011, on the 23rd anniversary of the 8.8.88 uprising, we are holding a demonstration in front of the German Embassy in London to call on Germany to stop blocking the European Union supporting the establishment of a UN Burma inquiry. Shamefully, Germany is putting its business interests before human rights by trying to stop an Inquiry. In effect, they are protecting rapists and war criminals in Burma.
On 8 August 1988, more than 3000 peaceful demonstrators in Burma were killed by the dictatorship just for calling for democracy.
Date: Monday 8th August 2011
Time: 12:00 - 13:00
Venue: Outside German Embassy, 23 Belgrave Square, London SW1X 8PZ
The nearest Tube stations: Hyde Park Corner (Piccadilly Line) and Sloane Square (District).
