Burma Campaign UK would like to invite you to a demonstration in front of the Burmese Embassy in London to mark the anniversary of Hla Hla Win’s arrest in Burma.
Hla Hla Win is a young Democratic Voice of Burma video journalist (VJ). She was first arrested in September 2009, close to the anniversary of the 2007 monk-led uprising, and sentenced to seven years imprisonment. On 20 December 2009, her jail term was extended by 20 years for violating the Electronics Act, which prohibits downloading or uploading data from the internet that is considered damaging to the security of the military regime. She is now serving 27 years in prison for interviewing a monk and working for DVB.
This protest is part of a global actions organised by the Free Burma VJ campaign of DVB. Protesters will be wearing Hla Hla Win’s mask and stand in front of Burmese embassies around the world with slogans.
